Choupette – Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat Gets Her Own Book

Two maids, a driver, international fame, a taste for Chanel handbags, and a real ‘stunning beauty’ – no, this isn’t an up-and-coming Hollywood starlet, but Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette. Here, we delve into the life of luxury of the world’s most pampered kitten.

She may only be a Siamese cat, but Choupette is already one of the few timeless legends in the animal world. To enhance her fame she is bringing out her own book, The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat, which will grace the readers with a glimpse at how the other half live – a 128 page glimpse to be precise.

One may wonder exactly what can be said for a fluffy white feline, but in all honesty, more than you may initially think. Choupette has two maids, one for the day and one for the evening (obviously) and travels only by private jet. When she isn’t eating off silver platters with her Father, Karl, she is participating in photo shoots with the likes of Laetitia Casta, or sniffing out which Chanel handbag she would like to be transported in for other glamorous, albeit shorter, journeys.

Personal photographs of Choupette, captured by Lagerfeld himself, add life to the book and provide the reader with an insight which contrasts with the feline’s more conventional, professional modelling photographs.

Choupette’s book isn’t all about her however, the pampered kitten also has her personal vet, Madame Horn, who contributes advice on how to provide your pet cat with a lifestyle that may resemble Choupette’s herself. If you find you don’t quite have the time to read the entire book, there is always Choupette’s Twitter account where you will find some of her sassiest musings, for one, "In my 9 months I have pawed at more Chanel than most women will see in a lifetime. I bask in your envy". Somehow I fear there may be some unfortunate truth in that…

Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat is released on September 15 by Thames & Hudson, £12.95
