After a series of surprise UK shows in February, Prince announced last Wednesday that he would be returning to Britain this month for an arena tour. Tickets were released two days later and, as you can imagine, the majority of these were snapped up by hoards of fans.
The gaps between Prince’s four initial tour dates sparked excited rumours that more dates were to be announced – and now they have been. The Purple Rain singer, along with his all-female band 3RDEYEGIRL, will now wow audiences at Birmingham’s LG Arena on May 15th and 19th and at the Manchester Phones 4U Arena on May 16th and 17th.
Originally strongly tipped to top this year’s Glastonbury line-up, it seems Prince will now only appear on his arena mini- tour as bookies have slashed the odds of Metallica headlining the Pyramid Stage at the legendary Somerset festival.
Showing no signs of ageing, Prince’s tour will warm up fans for his eagerly anticipated 36th (yes, 36th!) album, PlectrumElectrum, and will showcase his brand new, leather-clad, guitar-shredding 3RDEYEGIRL - “this is a new band, people are getting something new" said the Purple One.
Tickets for the impending Prince tour can be bought through See Tickets, and the following dates are still available:
Thursday 15 May – The NEC, Birmingham
Friday 16 May – Phones 4U Arena, Manchester
Saturday 17 May - Phones 4U Arena, Manchester
Monday 19 May 2014 - The NEC, Birmingham
