Like dozens of other brands in the run up to the World Cup, Alexander McQueen have turned their attention to football-themed fashion with their latest collaboration with long term partners, Puma. The joint project see’s the British fashion label redesign the classic Puma King football boot silhouette in two typically luxurious McQueen styles.
The collaboration is made up of just 100 pairs of McQueen’s Puma Kings, which is split 30/70 between the two swanky designs.
The most exclusive and sumptuous of the two designs (above) is created using a unique fish skin, which is tanned, crafted and finished in gold by hand and is said to be modelled on the World Cup Golden Boot award which is given to the highest scoring player of each tournament.
The second design (above) ‘recalls football’s glorious past’ with its vintage undyed and hand-burnished Italian leather . The premium heritage boot carries all of the details of the first 30-pair design, which includes an oversized classic Puma King tongue, ultra-light Formstrip stitch weight and high foam density.
Sadly none of the 100 pairs of the Alexander McQueen x Puma football boots will go on sale as the full century are to be given out to players and friends of the brands at this summer’s tournament. You can however, relive the full production process and more with the official Puma King by Alexander McQueen video below.
