Founded by John Barbour in South Shields towards the end of the 19th century, Barbour was established to provide the local working communities with durable, warm and waterproof outerwear.
Stepping into the 20th century and beyond, Barbour became hugely popular with submariners and motorcyclists due to the practical and robust properties of the brand’s innovative oil cloth and waxed jackets.
