AND WHAT TO SWERVE...
Now that you have the essentials sorted, we thought it might be best to send you off with a few little tips. We're talking basics, here. Unfortunately, some of the most simple style rules are lost on our northern European brothers abroad. We know that you're constantly told that 'packing light' is the best way to go, and we do agree, but when that means taking just one pair of cargo shorts and unsightly slogan t-shirts it's a BIG no.
1. CREASED CLOTHES
Yes, packing up your clothes into a suitcase and having them hauled 4 hours 30 over the ocean might leave them looking a little crumpled, but avoid the temptation to fling on and go. Ironing your clothes is essential to an immaculate finish. Look to the Italian and French, and how they manage to look so cool in 35 degree heat. No crumpled linen here.
2. FOOTBALL SHIRTS
We know what football means to you, we know how fanatic some of you are, but please do not mistake fierce loyalty to your club for an acceptable way of dressing abroad. Keep the football shirts at home. We might make an exception if England are playing in the Euros. BUT THAT IS IT, NO MORE THAN THOSE 90 MINUTES!
3. THREE QUARTER LENGTH TROUSERS
Why would you go for 3/4 length trousers, ever? They make your leg look short and stumpy, they flap around with no real purpose, and if you just extend the leg length a couple inches longer you've got yourself a lovely pair of cropped trousers which still expose your mankles without looking tragic. Always opt for a slim, tailored leg and team with boat shoes, converse or loafers for a stylish evening style.
