It’s been many months since we featured a cool Kickstarter appeal, but the lightest and most compact electric bike ever has certainly caught our attention. The A-Bike Electric.
The original A-Bike concept was led by British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair. The guys over there took the same durable, light and compact telescopic design and made it electric!
The A-Bike Electric is the world's lightest and most compact electric bike. Its telescopic design means it can be folded to fit into any journey. The electric power assistance makes riding easy and keeps you going for up to 15 miles (25 km).
With a 24v battery that can take you up to 15 miles the A-Bike Electric is great for those that want to have more freedom and fun on their daily journeys.
It gives you the freedom to go as there’s no need to wait, just transform the A-Bike Electric and it’s ready for you in less than 10 seconds. No more delays waiting for public transport, arrive on time and happy.
And you don’t have to worry about theft or having to find space in the bike park. Being light (it weighs just 12kg) and compact (folded dimensions 21 x 40 x70cm) means you can easily carry it and tuck it away when you need to.
It's convenient to carry on all forms of public transport, saves space at home or work and easily fits under tables in coffee shops.
But it’s not just the compact size that makes it a winner, as the electric element is just as helpful. All you need to do is just start pedalling and the power assistance automatically kicks in to do the hard work for you. Clever sensors detect when you're slowing down, on a hill for example, and automatically provide more power assistance when you need it so you can go further and get there faster.
You also might think that having smaller wheels requires more effort but their engineering means a normal and easy pedalling action. The dual chain drive has been optimised so that the rate of pedalling matches the rate the wheels turn, this makes riding A-Bike Electric feel like riding any other bike.
You also don't have to worry about getting bike chain grease on your hands and clothes. The A-Bike Electric has an enclosed bike chain that means you don't get dirty.
As with almost all of the Kickstater projects we have featured this one has captured the imagination of the public, and with 15 days to go it has almost doubled the $40,000 goal that the company originally set out to seek.
