The Cyclotron Bike

It’s been quite a long time since we brought you a Kickstarter project, but we’re sure you’ll agree it has been worth the wait once you see The Cyclotron Bike – the revolutionary spokeless smart cycle. Could this be the next evolution of two wheeled transport?

I’m sure you thoughts on the Cyclotron were the same as our – it looks like something from the film Tron – I mean c’mon it’s mentioned in the name of the bike.

The thoughts behind the bike from the Los Angeles based creators Cyclotron Cycles is that all areas of our life are progressing and evolving very fast, new inventions appear literally every day, outdating the ones from yesterday, but looking at bicycles, they haven't evolved with nearly comparable speed within the last decades.

And that's why they've created the world's most advanced and versatile Smart Bike. The Cyclotron is fully connected, packed with tons of innovative features and controlled by the powerful Cyclo-App.

The most noticeable aspect of the bike are the wheels. Firstly there is the lack of spokes – in fact it is the world’s first commercially available spokeless bike. Amazingly there is enough the space where the spokes used to be can now actually be used as storage! Also you don't have to worry about punctures or the like, as the tires are airless solid polymer ones.
Also when talking about the wheels you can’t help but mention the impressive lights.

The Bikes lighting system switches on or off using an automatic light sensor, and its light is emitted through dual halo LED wheels and a bike laser lane projector. As for the bike’s battery life, it’s equipped with a self-charging Li-ion battery pack that can power the bike’s stunning lights for more than eight hours. And you will never run out of light as the app will always let you know if the battery is getting low.

Speaking of the App this is another area that the makers have left no stone unturned in. The app works in conjunction with a slew of on-board sensors in turn detailing elapsed time, heart rate, battery info, speed, calories burned, altitude, GPS, distance, slope and more.
It also has an Autonomous accident & emergency reporting service, as well as Theft Prevention & GPS Bike Finder, although these come at a slight extra cost of roughly £2.50 a month. Add to this that the Cyclotron Bike’s frame is made of Space Grade Carbon Fiber Composite, which makes it rigid, stiff & ultra lightweight at the same time. But they didn't stop with a light construction. To minimise air resistance, drag & turbulence's, they used aerodynamic wing-shaped tube profiles. They literally "slice" through the air like a knife, when you go fast.

The Cyclotron is also equipped with an electronic e-gear box with chainless drive chain for fast shifts (recorded at 0.2 seconds), and with two small adjustments (one to the bars and one to the seat) the riding style can be changed between comfort and sport.

You can even add to it very easily one or two child seats – or Wingman as they are quite coolly known, or customise it with individual vinyl art piece decals.

For more information on the bike (there was far too much to mention in the blog), or to back it please head to their Kickstarter page here, but be quick as it only has a few days to go!
