Art lovers rejoice – there is to be a new sculpture walk in East London. The Line, as it shall be known, is set to feature some of the most revered artists working today, including British artists Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Abigail Fallis and Martin Creed.
Aspiring to bring modern art to a fresh cross-section of society, a planned 30 artworks will line the three-mile route around the River Lea, and will be on loan to The Line for 2 years, with additional pieces added every year.
Director Danny Boyle, who was responsible for both the opening and closing ceremonies in the 2012 Olympics, is right behind the project hoping that The Line will serve as permanent reminder of the vital role East London played in the games.
If you’re thinking of hitting the capital this summer, make sure you walk The Line…
