She’s known the world over for being an ‘it’ girl. Impeccably dressed, jaw-droppingly gorgeous and enviably cool, Alexa Chung ticks all the boxes when it comes to desirability. Following a series of successful collaborations, the model, television presenter and Vogue contributor has decided to take the leap and establish her own fashion line – a no brainer considering she’s one of the world’s most popular fashionistas with a staggering 1.57M Twitter followers.
Set to launch in May 2017, Chung has reportedly coined the label Alexachung, and will be the brand’s creative director alongside Edwin Bodson (the former head of Haider Ackermann) as managing director. In conversation with Business of Fashion, Chung explained her motives for the career move, saying, “I just wanted the freedom to sort of make my own world, without some else’s brand’s brief to stick to. That was so fun, but there are certain boundaries that come with doing something on behalf of someone else, [you] kind of have to keep within their design remit.”
Her style is already emulated around the world, but come next year her own creations will be available for Chung and fashion fans alike. Giving an insight into what to expect, Chung told BoF, “I’m not making something that has got a crazy high price point. I want to make sure it’s something that is speaking to just everyone on the street.” Given the icon’s personal handle on vintage, feminine-meets-masculine style, we can’t wait to see how it transpires in her own unique collection.
