Gucci Swaps Haute Couture For Horticulture

Gucci, the legendary luxury fashion house, is set to swap haute couture for horticulture by creating a garden inspired by it's iconic 'Flora' design.

The classic motif - which was first used by Gucci in 1966 as homage to Princess Grace of Monaco after her visit to the Gucci Milian boutique - will be adapted by award-winning landscape and garden designer Sarah Eberle and will go on show at the 2014 Chelsea Flower Show which takes place later this month.

After its release in 1966, the Flora print went on to be a hugely coveted design on Gucci scarves, which were synonymous with chic women of the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, the print has remained a key part of the Gucci identity and current creative director, Frida Giannini, has reinstated the design on bags, dresses, scarves and even as the inspiration for a number of the brand's fragrances.

The Gucci Flora garden will come to life on May 20th when the world's most famous flower show opens its doors to the public, who can then view this and the hundreds of other gardens over a five day window.
