The glory days of shorts, t-shirts, beer gardens and barbeques have been and gone for another year, but as the temperature begins to drop in the office, don’t sit and day-dream about bygone days. Instead, be warmed by the knowledge that you are about to unleash your most suave and on-point Autumn/Winter wardrobe gear to date. We’re talking leather boots, the essential winter coat (the one that makes the ladies swoon) and a whole collection of premium knitwear. Yes, knitwear with impact.
However, we know that this transition is no easy feat. What do you keep? What do you pack away? Is this t-shirt too bright? Are these jeans too light? (The answer to which is probably yes). That’s why we have composed the ultimate four part guide to ensure you make it to the other side with minimal blunders. Ready? Okay.
Be Practical AND Smart
Breathable cotton near your skin, followed by wool for warmth and insulation, and something weatherproof on top. For footwear, it is probably best to stick to easy-to-clean materials. Leather is most resistant to mud stains, but that suede pair you love will be done for after even the smallest splash. To play it safe, stick to solid leather. If you must wear the suede pair at least check the weather before, or invest in suede protector spray!

Invest In Outwear
Don’t let an eyebrow raising price tag put you off. A premium purchase isn’t going to just last the season, it’s going to last YEARS. A wool coat is the most versatile option, a double breasted style with a little room for layering is as on-point as you can get. Look for navy, black, grey or camel.
Certain brands are simply renowned for expert outerwear. Look to Moncler, Canada Goose and Barbour for specialist styles that you can rely on.

Ban The Brights
If the clocks going back and the nights getting darker isn’t a big enough indication that your orange t-shirt is just a bit too much then we don’t know what is! In a world where everything has an increasingly grey tint and the trees are even ditching their vivid green colours, those t-shirts which were fitting for Ibiza are now just a bit optimistic. Fold away those summer pastels and bring out plain t-shirts in black, grey, burgundy, white and blue.
Same goes for your outwear. Opt for blocked neutral shades when picking jackets and coats, think grey, brown, black or tan. It’ll neutralise any bold tones underneath. If you are partial to a pop of colour then look to the changing leaves. Rust orange, military green and mustard are generally a good shout for an on-trend, seasonal look.

Update Your Accessories
Umbrellas are not a sign of weakness, embrace them. Invest in a good one. It’s impossible to look cool when you’re fighting a losing battle against an umbrella that cost you a tenner. Not worth it. A good, sturdy umbrella is infinitely more sophisticated.
A new piece of luggage for your commute to work or a weekend away for the holidays is also pretty important, and if it matches your outwear – even better. Since you have a bag, you have somewhere to put your designer scarf once you get inside, too. It looks good, keeps the chill off your neck and is a good finishing touch.
