When the tech firm CrazyBaby first told us they would be releasing a product with the name the Mars Levitating Speaker our expectations were for something out of this world. This design has not disappointed.
Whilst there have been a couple of prototype offerings of a levitating speaker over the past few months, this is the first system that includes a subwoofer. The subwoofer is 4.5", and with a 10,000mAh powerbank this device oozes quality, and most importantly delivers superb sound, and all whilst looking like something from a sci-fi movie.
The UFO-shaped levitating speaker offers 360-degree sounds, and prevents any muffling when it is placed on a flat surface. The 4-cm thin speaker is made of aeronautical aluminium, making it not just incredibly sleek, but also waterproof.
The Mars floats approximately 1.3" above its base and offers an impressive 8 hours of continuous playback. Once the battery is drained, Mars does not return to a charging port, but recharges wirelessly. When the device recognizes low power levels, it automatically lands and begins charging, only to take off when fully recharged.
Similar to other wireless home devices, Mars connects to devices using Bluetooth.
Pre-orders are expected to be able to be placed soon via crazybaby.com.
