Following his recent runway show in Paris and release of his AW16 collection, the multi-talented American designer Virgil Abloh announces he has joined forces with luxury outerwear brand Monler on a brand new collection.
This collaboration between Moncler and Off White has been named ‘Moncler O’
The collaboration fuses together Abloh’s signature use of colour on detailing and street wear inspired graphics such as the instantly recognisable stripe design, along with the brands high end technical outwear garments know how.
"The best part of working on the Moncler collaboration was being able to work with a different range of fabrics and the technical ability to make garments," Abloh says.
Inspired by fishermen and their battle against the elements out at sea, the collection includes rugged jackets, down vests, parkas, T-shirts and knits in a muted colour palette that are all designed to withstand the harshest weather conditions. Moncler is known for this.
"Moncler is a brand I admire for its history and what it represents in the myriad of brands based in outerwear and fashion. I was excited to lend my creative vision to the brand," says Abloh
With a collaboration like this, it’s safe to say that Virgil Abloh will be thrust higher in the fashion industry’s top designer names. It also looks like he’ll have many more tricks up his sleeve for years to come. In the meantime, fans of the label get to see his new creations in the form of highly technical wear alongside one of the fashion’s most respected luxury brands, Moncler.
