The Samsung Gear VR

The tech landscape is about to change forever! Whilst we have the Oculus Rift and Microsoft Holoens nearing completion in the world of Virtual Reality, The Samsung Gear VR can now have pre-orders placed on it ready for a 20th November release.

Mobile virtual reality is finally here. With the Samsung Gear VR, you can play amazing games, watch Hollywood’s best movies in your own private cinema, socialise with friends new and old, be at the centre of a suspense thriller, and so much more. The Gear VR drops you right into the action.

Developed by Samsung Electronics, and in collaboration with Oculus VR (who have some experience in the field of work), a compatible Samsung Galaxy device (which currently stands at a Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5, or Galaxy S6/S6 Edge) acts as the headset's display and processor, while the Gear VR unit itself contains the high field of view lenses as well as a custom IMU (inertial measurement unit) for rotational tracking which connects to the smartphone via micro-USB.

To reach new levels, a comfortable headset is a must. That’s why with a wider interface, Gear VR is now 19% lighter compared to the previous trial model at 318g. And with its larger touchpad, you get easy and accurate control.

Put on the Gear VR, and you're there in the moment. A Super AMOLED display, wide field of view, precise head-tracking and low latency brings reality to the virtual.
There are no bad seats at this theatre. The big screen is all yours. Whenever you're ready, pick what you want from a vast selection of content (it has the entire Netflix catalogue to start) and settle down with a snack of your choice.
And several developers are releasing brand new made-for-VR games on Gear VR to add to the ones that are already in the library.

The Samsung Gear VR can be pre-ordered from here now priced at a very reasonable £65 ($99.99).
