Winter X Games 2015

Starting this Wednesday two hundred of the worlds best snow athletes will gather at the Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado in the United States for the Winter X Games 2015.

This will be the 19th running of the annual event.

20 Gold medals are up for grabs amongst various disciplines within the categories of Skiing, Snowboarding, & Snowmobiling. Last year 14 of the 16 top awards went to either Americans or Canadians, and it seems unlikely things will change this year.

The most successful British athlete in X Games history is Jenny Jones who has 3 gold medals achieved in the Women’s Snowboarding Slopestyle event. She will not however be competing this year despite winning a Bronze medal at last years Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Nearly 110’000 people attended the event at the same venue in Aspen in 2014, and with such spectacular events, and fast paced, high flying action guaranteed, a bumper crowd is expected again over the 5 days of competition. And the best thing is that entrance is free!
