Complimentary Colours is an art exhibition pitting the famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin; a brand associated with riotous color, in a collaboration with CJ Hendry; an artist who works solely in black and white.
Coinciding with the annual Art Basel Hong Kong, Australian artist CJ Hendry and Christian Louboutin have joined forces to launch their art exhibition at the Anita Chan Lai-ling Gallery, Fringe Club in Hong Kong.
Entitled Complimentary Colors, The show is comprised of a series of hyper-realistic drawings with blobs of thick oil paint as the subject. There’s a photo-realist quality to Hendry’s aesthetic, and she creates her work using 15 shades of pencil wax. The result is a breathtaking collection of art that explores a rainbow-like spectrum of colors.
Embracing Christian Louboutin’s ethos of ‘a culture of colour’, CJ decided get out of her comfort zone and do something she has never done before, moving away from her regular and familiar black and white in favour of a full spectrum of colour.
This is the fifth time that Christian Louboutin has collaborated with an artist, and it’s safe to say that CJ Hendry and Christian Louboutin are a harmonious union, as the resulting rainbow-like spectrum of artworks makes it the most breathtaking artist collaboration for the shoe designer to date.
