London Uprising is a book that gives an unprecedented and intimate behind-the-scenes look at London designer fashion over the last fifteen years. Featuring and profiling 50 leading London fashion designers, from Paul Smith and Stella McCartney to Erdem and Simone Rocha.
London has long been a fashion-world capital, and the past fifteen years have been an especially flourishing period in its centuries-long history of setting trends. This detailed book edited by Tania Fares and Sarah Mower is an all-access pass into the world of designer fashion - an exclusive behind-the-scenes studio tour that calls in on fifty of the city's leading design talents - London-based global superstars - all of whom open up about their practice and philosophy, and share a wealth of images from their rivate collections.
All accompanied with some nice pictures of each of the fifty designers, photographed in their studios by photographers like Kevin Davies, Tara Darby and Christopher Brooks, each designer talks about their practices, philosophies and all those other things that has made them stars of today’s London fashion scene which is currently pulsating with energy and activity.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Tania Fares said “The fifty designers profiled within the book represent a cross-section of the London fashion scene right now, from the large scale British powerhouses to smaller emerging talent”.
To which Sarah Mower adds, “I think when people think of London designers, they imagine students working out of their bedrooms or something, but the truth is that it’s so much more significant and together; the designers make up an incredibly hard-working community”.
And as a homage to the media, who have also played their part in making London a fashion capital, the book will also include interviews between each designer and various members of London’s foremost fashion editors and writers.
