Adele was crowned the Queen of the Brits last night after winning four prizes including best British female solo artist and best album at the annual awards ceremony at the O2 in London.
The North London girls’ comeback after 4 and half years has been nothing short of jaw-dropping. Her album 25 went to number 1 in 30 countries, of which despite only being released in late November was the biggest selling album of the year in 7 of those countries including the UK, and her first single Hello (which also won the British Single Of The Year) went to number 1 in an unbelievable 32 countries, and became the most watched video in Vevo history when it was viewed over 27 million times in the first 24 hours of release, and took only 88 days (another record) to get 1 billion views on YouTube. It also became the first song in the US to sell over one million digital copies within a week of its release.
Adele is no stranger to Brit success having already previously won 4 Brit Awards.
Elsewhere Coldplay became the most successful band in the ceremony’s history as they picked up best British Group. Chris Martin and co now have nine trophies to their name, although they would actually have to team up with Adele to just equal Robbie Williams' 17 awards (12 as a solo artist and 5 with Take That).
And last years Critics Choice Award winner James Bay walked away as best British Male Solo Artist.
Live performances on the night included a colourful opening show performance from Coldplay, as well as Justin Bieber, James Bay, Jess Glynne, Rihanna, Little Mix, and also a David Bowie medley which saw Lorde team up with his backing band.
And the show was closed by who else but the lady of the moment Adele.
