Italian fashion brand, Gucci have updated their classic Flora design with the help of Canadian artist Kris Knight. Reworking one of the most iconic Gucci prints, Flora takes on a new meaning in Kris Knightâs subversive take on the floral bouquet. Creating a design that has elements of beauty, strength and desire, this reinterpretation infuses an underlying sense of darkness and enchantment. Learn more with the official video below.
Kris Knight carefully selected botanicals that blossomed at night, dawn or dusk, choosing buds that had strong roots. Using flowers and plants, in particular Belladonna and Datura, both used in Rome by women for seduction and desire. Producing fruit that were once used to command power over men yet blossomed with beautiful flowers.
The provocative pattern also includes blooms such as the Poppy, Clover, Dandelion and Nightshade (just to name a few more!) symbolising protection and adding a mystical thread into this contemporary recreation.
