Guest Blog:New Year Make Up Look

Ok, so it’s the event of the year, the one everyone’s been waiting for New Year’s Eve. You’ve got that outfit all planned out but how are you going to do your make up?
Don't worry ladies, I have something for you that is my perfect go to look that can be adapted for all occasions, even New Year!

So let’s begin, I really like to make sure my skin is cleansed and refreshed before applying any kind of make-up. I use Clinique’s foaming facial soap followed by their clarifying lotion in no.3 and their dramatically different moisturising gel. All of these prep the skin and get it feeling clean and super soft. So if you're on the lookout for that new 2016 skincare routine those would be my suggestions, if not use whatever works best for getting that perfectly clean base.

So we all want that flawless base so don’t forget to prime, for this I use YSL’s Forever Youth serum which creates a smooth surface to apply your foundation. Usually for every day I don’t use a foundation because I feel it smothers my skin and my skin is super sensitive, however if you’re after a little light coverage I would recommend the YSL Top Secrets BB Cream. I find that this light weight tinted moisturiser is the perfect natural coverage that adds a hint of colour to the skin, I’m using the shade medium – whilst applying this I also remember to apply to the neck so that it all blends in. It’s time to banish those dark circles and blemishes – I tend to use the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in classic beige, applying this under my eyes, around my nose and above my cupids bow and any other spots I may have.

For my eyebrows I follow the natural shape and use the Chanel brow pencil in shade 40 to fill in and build up. I then clean the area around using the YSL Touche Eclat no.1 and mini beauty blender. I would suggest going with your usual brow routine unless you’re looking for new recommendations.

I’m really loving a brown/nude smokey eye and I think with a touch of shimmer eye shadow it’ll be perfect New Year’s Eve. I recently got the Makeup Revolution Beyond Flawless palette and I’ve found this is great for creating the perfect smokey eye as there are an array of shades to choose from. With the finishing touch of the classic cat eye liner flick using the Chanel eye liner pen (which is great for getting a fine line and also building up) we are nearly complete! My mascara of choice is Dior’s Extase which I absolutely adore and have used for many years now. I literally swear by it, if you’re on the market for a mascara that creates the perfect full lash look then this is the one.

If you’re into makeup then you’ll know a look is never complete without sculpting the face! When it comes to contouring my face and nose I use the Makeup Revolution ultra contour palette. Using a fine brush I’ll go along the side of my nose, down the tip and then down the centre with the YSL Touch Eclat, finally blending it all with a mini beauty blender. For the cheeks I use the contouring brush from Real Techniques and run it along the cheek bones blending it in as I go followed by Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow. My go-to blusher of the moment is MAC blush in ‘Warm Soul’ and nothing is complete without a little bit of highlighter, my favourite, theBalm Mary-Lou manizer. For the final touch I set my face with the YSL Souffle D’eclat translucent powder and spritz a little of the MAC prep and prime + fix spray all over.

This would be my everyday make up look and to alter it to each outfit I would simply change the colour of the lip or eye and define a few more features. At the moment I am loving the Fast Play Amplified lipstick from MAC with MAC spice lipliner, this is most definitely my perfect nude combination.
So if you’re wanting to embrace festive season why not add a bold red or plum/dark lip and some statement shimmery eyeshadow.
